COVID-19 Update – Transnet terminals announce force majeure.
On March 23, 2020, South African President Cyril Ramavusa announced a nationwide closure until midnight Thursday, March 26, 2020. The insurance is part of South Africa’s attempt to contain and slow the spread of the Coronavid-19 COVID-19 virus in the country, and imposes a total ban on all services except basic services as defined in the regulations issued on March 25, 2020. The companies necessary to produce and transport foodstuffs, basic commodities, medical supplies, emergency services and security are exempt from this closure and allowed to remain in operation during the 21-day closure period.
