Significant increase in agricultural exports to “Gulf” countries.
The maritime freight traffic between the ports of Safaga and Daba in Saudi Arabia witnessed an increase and regularity in the number of cruises through 5 ferries, namely: Amal, Amanah, Al Hurriya, Poseidon Express and Leva Jazz, where the average volume of trucks leaving Safaga Port per day is between 300 and 350 trucks, carrying about 7 Thousands of tons of fruits, agricultural exports, fruits and general goods, while taking precautionary measures to combat the spread of the Coronavirus.
The monthly statistics of the Red Sea Ports Movement stated that Safaga Port achieved a big leap in the movement of exports to the Arab Gulf states during last December, as 443 thousand tons of goods were traded, an increase of 33% over the same month during the previous year. Agricultural and fruits, foremost among them are red onions and oranges, while the volume of imports reached 160,000 tons.
