The Customs Authority has agreed to accept the electronic certificate of origin issued by the Emirates, and it contains an electronic stamp and signature from the Emirates.
The Customs Authority issued a new publication regarding acceptance of the electronic certificate of origin issued by the Emirates during the current period. The new publication No. 14 of 2020 “Agreements” states that electronic certificates of origin with an electronic stamp and signature issued by the Ministry of Economy of the United Arab Emirates in which the Rapid Response Code (QRCODE) is included are exceptionally accepted during the current crisis period “the Corona Virus”.
Activation of the Quick Response Code (QRCODE) is a condition for acceptance of the certificate. The publication stipulated that this procedure be accepted, provided that the Quick Response Code (QRCODE) is activated to verify the authenticity of the certificate of origin data, according to the letter of Dr. Dr. Head of the Central Department of Trade Agreements at the Ministry of Trade and Industry No. 1727 last April. The publication also stressed the need to take into account that in case of doubting the authenticity of the document or the origin of the goods, the General Administration of Agreements will be provided with the original customs declaration and give reasons for skepticism about the possibility of taking the necessary, as well as taking into account all the conditions mentioned in the detailed rules of origin.
