The port of Rotterdam is the largest port in Europe:
It is located in Rotterdam, Netherlands. From 1962 until 2002 it was the busiest port in the world, now overtaken by Singapore and then Shanghai. In 2011, the port of Rotterdam was the 11th container port in the world in terms of twenty-foot equivalent unit handling [2] (2009: tenth; 2008: tenth, 2006: sixth). In 2012 Rotterdam was the sixth largest port in the world in terms of annual tonnage shipments. Its privileged location on the North Sea – the most active maritime line in the world, especially in transporting oil, chemicals, containers, iron ore, coal and minerals.
