IATA announces lower levels of demand for air freight last October.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced data on global air cargo markets, which showed a decrease in the levels of air freight demand during last October, at a rate of 3.5% compared to the same period last year, and these results indicate a weak start to the peak season of conventional air freight, as Year-over-year decline in freight volumes has been experienced in the twelfth month in a row. Airlines in the Middle East region witnessed a decrease in air cargo volumes by 6.0% during October 2019, compared to the same period last year, to form the largest decrease in air freight demand across all regions in October, noting that this was accompanied by an increase 0.9% charge capacity.
